John Mercer taught 6th grade in Fulton, NY for 32 years. They Call Me Zombie, John’s first novel, was crafted during this time over a two-and-a-half-year period. Using a pseudonym to introduce the story to his students, John was able to receive feedback from nearly two-hundred children prior to publication making his novel kid tested and approved! Since publication, the They Call Me Zombie Series have been used in classrooms as read along novels.
John’s other novels, They Call Me Zombie: Hope and They Call Me Zombie: Kangaroo are the sequels to this ghostly adventure series.
John has visited many classrooms, libraries and writing conferences in the CNY area to discuss his books, the writing process and how students can achieve their goals. John lives in Fulton, NY with his wife and their dog. In addition to his writing, he is an avid fan of Syracuse Football and Basketball. In the spring and summer, he continues with his feeble attempts at golf.
